ARE ON THE ARTISTS COMMITTEE AT THE VERMONT STUDIO CENTER.

WE HELD OPEN STUDIOS AT THE BEGINNING OF OUR MONTH'S RESIDENCY AND THEN AGAIN AT THE END ...TO WELCOME OUR FELLOW ARTISTS AND WRITERS INTO OUR STUDIOS.  OUR WORK WAS IN PROGRESS  AND WE WORKED IN OUR PRIVATE SPACES FOR UP TO 8 HRS A DAY.  WE ALSO HAD ACCESS TO AN ART LIBRARY IN THE BASEMENT OF THE RED MILL.  THE RED MILL IS WHERE WE ARE OUR MEALS TOGETHER DISCUSSING ART, WRITING, POETRY, AND LISTENING TO ONE ANOTHER.  THIS IS ALSO WHERE WE SANG AND PLAYED A LITTLE MUSIC ON THE LAST EVENING OF OUR RESIDENCY.  IT WAS INDEED A MAGIC TIME.

THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH WORDS TO DESCRIBE THE JOY OF HAVING THE TIME AND SPACE TO WORK EACH DAY IN MY OWN STUDIO.  THE PEOPLE I MET FROM AROUND THE WORLD - FRANCE, AFRICA, JAPAN, ENGLAND, THAILAND, MEXICO, CZECHOSLOVAKIA, TRINIDAD, Slovakia, Africa, Viet Nam, AND CHINA AS WELL AS FROM ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES BROUGHT GIFTS TO THE INTERACTION AND INSPIRED ME TO NOT ONLY WORK HARD, BUT ENCOURAGED DIALOG, FRIENDSHIPS, AND  WORKING TOGETHER.
